The Adige Bicycle Path Through the orchards and vineyards of South Tyrol.

From the North Tyrol Inn Valley by bike to Landeck. The bus will bring the bikers up to Nauders on the Reschenpaß/ Resia Pass. From there it goes usually downhill. More than 1100m altitude difference only between the Reschenpaß/Resia Pass and Meran/Merano. While you enjoy the marvellous view over the eternal glittering ice world of the Ortlés mountain range, you are caressed by the sun rays that shine here most of the time. Not only bikers enjoy this favourable climate: fruit and vine thrive here splendidly. Corresponding to that, the vineyards and orchards spread. You bike through right in the middle. And the Àdige rushing into the valley is your guiding line. People have felt well here over the centuries. The numerous places of interest from all epochs along the way through Schlanders/Silandro, Meran/Merano and Kaltern/Caldaro to Bolzano give evidence of this.
Route features:
Cycle tracks in the river valleys of the Inn and the Àdige. From Landeck to Reschenpaß/Resia Pass bus transfer. Between the Reschenpaß/Resia Pass and Bolzano there is more than 1200 metres difference in altitude. You still have to cope with some ascents to keep the route running free of traffic.
Parking:
Car park garage near the hotel of departure in Innsbruck (€ 45,-- each week, payable on the spot). Unguarded parking lots for free by the stadium.
Return transport:
to Innsbruck by train or by mini bus (€ 40,-- per person, bike included, payable on the spot, limited number of places, booking recommended), every Saturday and aswell every Sunday from 10.07. – 28.08.
Tour course
Day 01 - Arrival in Innsbruck
Arrival until 6 p.m. in Innsbruck (the old part of town, town tower, “Goldenes Dachl”). Introductory presentation and distribution of bikes. Group tour: city tour.
Day 02 - Innsbruck – Imst about 65 km
On the former Treidelweg (Treidel Path) along the Inn and through the small villages (churches worth seeing, old aristocratic houses, fortress ruins) to Stams (baroque Cistercian convent, convent museum) on through Haiming to Imst.
Day 03 - Imst – Mals/Burgeis about 60 km + 40 km by bus
Along the Inn, past Kloster Zams (monastery) to Landeck. From here bus transfer to Nauders. Few steps more (100 metres of altitude) up to Reschenpaß/Resia Pass. Downhill to Reschensee (Resia Lake) and on side paths on to Malles Venosta (town centre has many towers) or Burgeis at the foot of the Marienburg (a fortress).
Day 04 - Mals/Burgeis – Meran/Merano/ about 65 km
First to Glurns (fully preserved mediaeval city walls). Over the Montani ruins (discovery site of the Nibelungen – manuscript), through Schlanders/Silandro and past the St. Prokulus – church (the oldest frescos in the German-speaking area), downhill to Meran/Merano. Many fortresses and castles (e.g. Reinhold Messner Castle Juval) are located on the or above the route.
Day 05 - Passeiertal (valley) – Meran/Merano / about 40 km
Possibility of making a bike ride to Passeiertal to the Sandwirt (birthplace of Andreas Hofer), to wander on the famous Trappeinerweg (path) or to go on a shopping tour under the bowers of Meran/Merano. Group tours – guided city tour and wine tasting. In the single tours there are booking possibilities for additional nights.
Day 06 - Meran/Merano/ – Kaltern/ Caldaro / Tramin about 45-50 km
In the Àdige Valley to Lana (Schanetterpeck-Altar) and through numerous vineyards and orchards in the region of the South Tyrol Vine Street past many fortresses, castles and ruins to the Kalterer Lake and partly on to Tramin.
Day 07 - Kaltern/Caldaro / Tramin – Bolzano about 35 km
Flat through the Àdige Valley or – with a beautiful landscape and an ascent – through the Montiggler Lakes, past the Ruin Sigmundskron, into Bolzano.
Day 08 - Individual Departure
or prolonged stay.
