THE CARNIC HIGH TOUR Trekkingtour

The Carnic High Tour crosses the interesting landscape south of the Lesach and Gail valley, the Carnic Alps. It mainly follows the 110 km long Carnic main ridge, which forms in long parts the boarder between Austria and Italy. The highest point of the walking week is reached with the Eisenreich (2665 m). Trenches and wire meshes still are testimony to the World War I, when this region was part of the frontline. But of course the beauty of the Carnic high tour is to be found somewhere else: the loneliness, the unspoilt nature and the interesting geological constructions.
